Sister Act Run - 3/5/2009 - 4.5 Miles

Advertised as a 4 mile race around London dressed as a Nun! It was firstly to publicises the opening of the Sister Act musical and to raise money for Barnados. Never done a fancy dress race so jumped at the chance.

As we walked down the street not sure if we where in the right place as there was not a nun in sight. Then we walked around the corner and was greeted by a street full of nuns. I went and got my chip and nuns outfit, got changed and handed my bag in.

Went to the start line where they had organised a warm up session. Not my kind of warm up more aimed at people who don't normally run so went and did my own warm up.

The start was to be stagged as they didn't want 1000 nuns hitting the streets at the same time. I was in the second wave.

Off we went down the street across the road and then directed down the underpass. Nobody had mentioned stairs. Up the stairs and around the corner to cross Tower Bridge. Hundreds of bemused tourist.

Made my way thought the field of nuns as we arrived at County Hall and along the Thames. Passed the Globe and then the Tate Modern. The looks on peoples faces was priceless, no everyday you see 1000 nuns running past you. Just passed the Tate there was a Water Station. Up some stairs and across the Thames to the north side. Along the towpath and then back to the start.

Finished in 43:17 and was 7th in my age category.
