Did this race last year and had a terrible time. This year I was out to beat the demon.

Ran a figure of 8 twice around the paths of the park so actually a road race. Set off with the goal of keeping the pace even. My legs felt heavy after a week of very quick runs. However, tried to keep it relaxed and smooth and pretty much kept to it.

A club mate who on the last few occasions I have beaten got ahead of me, and started pulling away on the second lap. Tried to not let it bother me and stick to the plan.
